We Are Involved To Help For The Helpless
Southwest Somali Community
Background:
SOWESCO was founded in 2016 by a group of youth and young adults who would meet every other Friday to discuss issues facing their community. It was through feedback they collected on how to best support the East African immigrant and refugee community that they decided to form a nonprofit. Over the past 7 plus years, we have served more than 2300 clients with service navigation, interpretors, classes to teach life skills and personal health practices, along with youth mentoring.
We focus our efforts on serving the immigrant and refugee populations of Multnomah and Washington Counties where the bulk of the population we target in Oregon are located.
